Step 2: Book rail page

Note: Currently in Manage Travel, you can only book rail journeys that are either within Canada or between USA and Canada.

The processes involved in booking travel for yourself or for someone else or for multiple travellers are virtually the same. One key difference between the three different selections is that different profile data would be used for each one - either your profile data would be drawn into the booking, the profile data of someone else or that of multiple travellers. The other key difference is that in the case of booking for multiple travellers, after you have completed the booking information for the first traveller, the process must then be repeated for the other travellers.

One useful feature on the Book rail page is the Nearest station link. Use it if you have a location in mind but don't know which is the closest station to that location. After you have clicked the link and searched by location or office, browse the map and select one of the station icons. You would then need to choose it as your departure or arrival station and click Select.

To complete the Book Rail Page:

  1. Choose a Return or One way journey type.
  2. If you need to change the departure country, start to type in the Departure country box and click on it or press enter when it appears in the drop-down list.
  3. Repeat for the Departure station, Arrival country, and Arrival station boxes.
  4. Complete the Termination date box by clicking on the calendar icon and selecting the required date. Alternatively, you may type the date into the box.

Tip: you can choose your departure and return dates at the same time by clicking and dragging on the departure calendar.

  5. Select a departure time from the drop-down menu.
  6. Alter the return dates and times if needed.
  7. If it is present, expand the Advanced options section and choose whether to travel by direct trains only or not. You can also specify to go via or avoid a specific connection station.
  8. Click Search.
