TAN hierarchy
Each of the TAN code prefixes can be linked to a hierarchy that enables departments to manage travel expenditures by cost centre. The hierarchy consists of three levels as follows:
- Level 1 (Department) - identifies a particular department or agency;
- Level 2 TAN prefix - identifies a unit such as region, branch or sector; and
- Level 3 TAN prefix - identifies a specific cost centre and is associated to a DTEA. Prepaid airfare and rail transactions are charged to the DTEA.
